Built in 1986, the Eye Foundation Institute was originally founded
by Dr. Felix N. Sabates, M.D. in 1971. As a part of the University of
Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine Department of Opthamaology,
it was established as an education, research, patient care and rehabilitation
center.
This building contains doctor’s offices, 3 operating suites, 5
laser examination rooms, a 70 seat auditorium, library, clinic and a
lobby/waiting area. The design received a Special Recognition Award
by the Prestressed Concrete Institute for the creative use of precast
and prestressed concrete.
