![]() This was a personal experience project by Powell Minnis while employed by PGAV, Inc. As part of the comprehensive plan for a 143-acre park, this 6,000 square foot interpretive center was constructed in two phases. Phase One included a multi-purpose room, kitchen, restrooms, storage and office facilities in 2,000 square feet. Phase Two doubled that square footage to include a multi-purpose room/treatment room, offices, workroom, library, and a common lobby adjoining the two phases. The use of natural building materials such as wood pole columns and cedar siding and shingles assure compatibility of the facility with the natural surroundings. Exterior wood sun-shading devices integrated into the pole structure become a prominent architectural feature and promote energy efficiency. Both the trails and the building provide complete accessibility to the disabled. |
