Teh
Kon Hu, RA
President
Principal-in-Charge
Education
Master of Architecture, Kansas State University
Bachelor of Architecture, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, ROC
Registration
Kansas, Missouri, Shanghai
Experience
Teh Kon founded HJM Architects, Inc. in 1984. He has experience in many
types of building projects from healthcare and education, to corporate
and retail design. Teh Kon's knowledge of the project design and construction
process is only shadowed by his strength in intelligent design.
Teh Kon believes in design efficiency. It's a philosophy which not only
occurs in the design process, but also in the project program, building
circulation, interior and exterior design, and material choices as well.
By infusing the entire process with this approach, buildings become
more pure and expressive in their built environment.

Experience
Ray has been with HJM Architects, Inc. for 10 years. He has vast experience
in K-12 educational facilities, as well as having been affiliated with
the Boy Scouts of America.

years of experience. With the advent of electronic documentation, he
is continually searching for ways to improve the communication process.
A compelling trait is Ray's desire to provide a timely response to client
requests and requirements. However, his greatest value is his aspiration
to achieve the best possible result for a project with the interest
of the client as a priority.
Powell
Minnis, NCARB
Principal
Project Manager
Education
Bachelor of Architecture, Kansas State University
Registration
Colorado, Missouri
Experience
Powell has been with HJM Architects, Inc. for 6 years. He has a strong
background in nature, visitor, and interpretive centers. His knowledge
of the programming issues related to these facility types is further
broadened by his experience in educational facilities and libraries.
Powell believes his primary role as an architect is one that first listens
and observes, then takes action. As architects, Powell feels we have
a major responsibility for how the built environment relates to the
natural environment. This relationship is a kind of dialogue that can
be played many different ways. What creates success is to allow ourselves
to listen to this dialogue throughout design, making appropriate decisions
that strengthen both environments.
Richard
Hu, NCARB
Principal
Designer
Education
Bachelor of Architecture, University of Kansas
Registration
Illinois, Kansas, Missouri
Experience
Richard has been with HJM Architects, Inc. for 2 years. He lived and
practiced architecture in the Pacific Northwest for a number of years.
His experience dealing with land and water authorities comes from designing
environmentally friendly residential projects on water front and steep
slope sites. His passion for conservation of the natural environment
stems from years of backpacking, climbing, and kayaking.
Richard has worked at a number of award winning design firms around
the country prior to joining HJM Architects. These experiences, coupled
with inspiration drawn from both natural and man-made settings, have
built an instinctive design vocabulary. By combining this intuitive
style with the desires of the client, he creates a successful balance
in planning and aesthetics which harmonizes with the project site.
